OTB Fashion Show

June 7, 2005

Drive-In Studios, NYC

They’re not horsing around. This Equestrian Couture Fall Fashion Preview Collection was outstanding. Racing is full of unlikely combinati8ons. No one gave Sueabiscuit a chance for a comeback after injury, no one could have predicted that a group of friends from upstate New York could win two leges of the Triple Crown with a New York bred gelding named Funny Cide, and nobody imagined 50-1 shot Giacomo would be standing in the winner’s circle with a blanket of roses on Kentucky Derby day. But with unlikely combinations, come big payoffs.

On June 7 th, New York City Off-Track Betting (OTB) celebrated the arrival of the Triple Crown to New York in style, with a fashion show at Drive-In Studios at 7:00pm. The designers presenting included iceberg, Rubin Chapelle, Seize sur Vingt, United Nude, House of Diehl, Dave Denis, Surface 2 air, Earnest Sewn and Fred Perry.

When NYC OTB first opened in 1971, it had two branch offices. Today, NYC-OTB operates more outlets in the city (76) than many better-known retailers. In addition, their phone account system handles over 100,000 calls on busy weekends. NYC OTB’s handle represents roughly 7% of the total mount legally wagered on horse racing in North America.

The most recent addition to their business is the restaurant division. These established restaurants located throughout New York City represent a broad departure from the parlors and attract a very different clientele. The restaurants are aimed at the younger generation who crave action, good food and a very different environment than the parlors. Unlike many fast paced gaming environments, you don’t have to travel far for this - it all exists right here in the five boroughs.

“The Triple Crown season is the most exciting 5 weeks in horseracing and a younger generation of fan comes to enjoy the sport this time of year.” Said Raymond C. Casey President, NYC OTB “What we want to do is encourage these “seasonal fans” to come back and enjoy the races at one of their restaurant locations. The restaurant offers the opportunity to watch and wager on races, while enjoying great food and drink in a fun atmosphere.

Noticeably absent from the restaurants were Sansbelt snacks and cruise wear for the active senior. You will not find any plaid wool caps or Beige Vinyl casual dress shoes. Think more Carrie Bradshaw than Oscar Madison; every day each restaurant has fast paced action, a new races every couple of minutes, and, most importantly, eye opening payoffs. A different environment requires a different style. All you need to win at the races is the right combination of horses and a little luck. Both can be had at any of our their restaurant affiliates.

The fashion show was great, featuring professionally modeled horse racing style outfits with names such Iceberg, Estuay, House of Diehl, Rubin Chappelle, and Sieze sur Vingt.

This was a great event indeed. We would like to thank _____________________ for their kind invitation. Anyone interested in learning more about the Off Track Betting company may visit their website at http://www.nycotb.com/.
