Women’s Leadership Exchange

The Women’s Leadership Exchange is probably the most influential force in the movement for women entrepreneurs. It was chock-full of seminars and networking opportunities from women who are on the move as leaders in the corporate community. It would take an event as large as this to attract sponsorships from the largest corporations in America, the American Express, OPEN small business network division, Microsoft, Volvo and several others.

The event was highlighted by Mayor Bloomberg Speaking during the Breakfast session
He mentioned how he had worked very closely with his small business commissioner, and started many small loan programs for women and women of color and he also mentioned how he has also added more programs for Domestic violence cases against women in New York City, after the Speech Mayor Bloomberg Received a Compass Award from Ms Andrea March and Leslie Grossman the Co-Founders of the Women’s Leadership Organization ,we know that we present this award to women leaders but we are for the first time going to present this award to a male and we are proud of it, for the great work the mayor and its organization has done for the women ,here in New York city.

Other speakers included Sara Blakely, Entrepreneur and Creator of Spanx Footless Pantyhose, Ms Blakely was the Breakfast Keynote speaker,she spoke about how people did not have faith in her especially friends and relatives,but she continued to market her Panty Hose to many company’s and then one of the leading stores liked her idea and begin selling it, and also she mentioned that she had sent an sample to Oprah Winfrey,who liked it so much ,she send her Tv crew to tape the story of Ms Blakely and was seen throughout the nation and through that she was able to make more contacts and sell her products, and she also went on to say her business did over 45 million dollars in business last year alone.It was a great success story .Luncheon Keynote speaker was Gloria Allred Leading Womens Rights Attorney ,Edie Weiner Futurist and Author was the Keynote speaker during the Afternoon General Session,Closing Keynote of the day was by Karen Elliott House, Publisher The Wall Street Journal.

Compass award winners for 2005 were : Dr Ella L.J.Edmonson Bell, Associate Professor,Tuck School, Dartmouth College, Susan Sobbott, President Open from American Express, Linda Kaplan Thaler, CEO and Chief Creative Officer ,Kaplan Thaler Group,

There was a host of seminars there, including “Extreme Marketing Makeover:is your brand an accurate reflection of your business, By Orit,President and Ceo, the O Group, Bang ! How to get your message heard in a noisy world, by Linda Kaplan Thaler Ceo, and Cco, Kaplan Thaler Group, “Aflack Duck” Campaign,

There was a large exhibit which featured such vendors in the area of fashion, holistic therapy, books on leadership (including books written by Ms Leslie Grossman Co-Founder Womens Leadership Exchange ), Companies like IBM and Intel were also there, featuring the newest technologies

Women from all of the world states were at this event. I am met a mother and daughter from Iceland a country of a population of 300,00 they said they wanted to attend this event because being business woman in their country they don’t have seminars and information,to this caliber, they enjoyed it so much and the knowledge the mother and daughter picked up was,Mind Boggling,they was so impressed they said that they will come back again next year and bring some of their close friends with them.
