4th Annual Bizbash ConventionOctober 14, 2004Pier 94, New YorkFor business-loving folks, nothing even came close to the fourth annual Bizbash convention. This convention, which serves as a business-to-business marketplace for marketers, event and meeting planners, who produce, plan and host more than 100,000 corporate and association gatherings. The huge exhibit featured vendors providing every aspect of event planning and organizing. There were even companies there that sell event planning software. Highlights of the event consisted of the Hall of Fame induction, in which this years honorees, Preston Ribert Tisch (Loews Corporation), The Glazier Family (The Glazier Group), Peter Kohlmann (New York Host Committee, Republican National Convention), Radio City Music Hall, The Actors’ Fund, Ed Kane of Sheraton Hotels, Jack Morton Worldwide, Barbara Tober (Museum of Arts & Design), Tom Finn (Tim Finn Productions) & Edna Greenbaum (Council of Protocol Executives) were all inducted into the Industry Hall of Fame. The BiZBash Event Style Show is the ultimate event style marketplace. It is anyone’s best opportunity to take their knowledge to the next level, rejuvenate their creativity, network and be inspired by the movers and shakers of the industry. It enables one to go behind the scenes of world-class events, learn from the best in the business, and shop for the best services and biggest ideas from over 200 premier vendors in the event planning industry. There were even innovative education sessions taught by top speakers in the U.S. that showed one the latest event style trends and took people behind the scenes at the biggest special events. The general session featured a seminar on the art of hiring, which was presented by Kwame Jackson, of “The Apprentice.” Exhibitors included limousine companies like 800-BookALimo, “chatchki” (promotional giveaways) producers such as Acolyte Technologies, audio provision companies such as Clear Channel, producers of event planning software like “EventIQ,” and many, many more. There were close to seventy exhibitors there, exhibiting every possible aspect of event handling and planning. There were also seminars galore. One that I listened to was on gaining a competitive edge through business and protocol etiquette, which was presented by Marc Friedland, Founder and Creative Director, Creative Intelligence Inc. and Frank Goldstin, C.E.O., The Experiential Agency. The two of the discussed the creation of the event brand and experience through integrated visual communications and design, event sponsorship and the integration of the event with the corporate brands of the sponsors. This exciting class also covered the role event branding plays in increasing awareness, impact and return on investment, and was designed to help many get the biggest bang for their event planning buck. This was a great event. We at Liberty News Online Magazine would like to thank David Adler, Founder and CEO of Bizbash, and Richard Aaron, the President of Bizbash, for help us with interviews. This event is getting bigger and better every year. It was packed out. Anyone interested in learning more about Bizbash may visit their website, at www.bizbash.com.
