Fundraiser

York, N.Y. - New York, NY – Charlie King’s Gala Fundraiser
at New York’s historic Waldorf-Astoria Hotel last night was a wonderful
success and a rollicking good time. Attracting some 500 guests representing
New York’s diversity, it drew elected officials, business leaders,
members of the news media, and young professionals ready, willing, and
able to boogey down. Full fundraising tallies will be released as they
become available, but the hall was full and the crowd was buoyant.
Included in a long list of elected officials and prominent New Yorkers
attending the event were Campaign Co-Chair Congressman Jose Serrano, Campaign
Co-Chair Mayor Ernie Davis of Mount Vernon, Former Bronx Borough President
Fernando Ferrer, Rev. Al Sharpton, Westchester First Lady Brenda Resnick
Spano, former Councilmember Bill Perkins, Councilmember Robert Jackson,
Councilmember Kendall Stewart, Councilmember Tom White, Columbia County
Chair Ken Dow, former candidate for Manhattan Borough President Carlos
Manzano, Grassroots Inc.’s Maurice Garner, and Art Bechhoefer, coming
all the way from Yates County, along with representatives of UAW, DC-1707,
DC-37, and many others.
The rock band, the “X Brothers,” brought the crowd to its
feet with classic rock songs until the last cocktail was cleared away.
The band featured Blue Oyster Cult bassist Joe Bouchard (on guitar), drummer
Jimmy Cacala, and bassist Andy Hilfiger, who along with his brother, Tommy,
helped make the event the success it was.
