57th Annual Easter Luncheon & Fashion Show
For Greater NY Chapter,The Links Inc
Sheraton Hotel,NY NY
April 15th 2006

The Links, Incorporated is an international organization of 11,000 concerned, committed and talented women linked in friendship to enhance the quality of life in the larger community. The Links Inc. has 274 Chapters located in the United States, Germany, South Africa and the Caribbean.

International Trends and Services was established to create awareness and promote understanding of world issues. GNYC has achieved this by partnering with the South African Consulate of New York to host the Day of the African Child. GNYC also provides opportunities to collaborate with others on international projects related to political, economic and cultural matters through Community Educational Forums such as the Charles B. Rangel International Fellowship Program.

The Services To Youth Facet’s mission is to increase the well being of our youth. Recent projects include career development/mentoring days with the GEAR UP Program at New York University. Our work with the GEAR UP Program has earned us a place on their Advisory Board. We also host a yearly financial education conference, “What’s UP With Money?” for which we received The First Honorable Mention Award, Eastern Area, The Links, Inc. for 2003. This conference focuses on improving financial literacy in children and their parents from the African American and Caribbean communities. In 2004, we will be developing the National Links initiative, the Poster Art Contest. Children will create art posters that demonstrate the idea of walking as a form of physical activity for the entire family. We plan to partner with the American Heart Association in offering their “Jump Rope for Heart” Program.

This years Luncheon, honored Neica Goldberg,M.D. Chief, womens Cardiac care for Lenox Hill Hospital,with The Medical Heart Award which was presented  by Links Dr.Marcella Maxwell.The other Honoree was Natalia Kanem,M.D. President, The Elma Philanthropies (us) Inc. improving life prospects of Africa’s Children,She was presented The Humanitarian Award by Link’s Nanette Thomas.

Former Congressman Floyd Flake did the Invocation , Congressman Charles Rangel Bought remarks and went onto say he was very honored to be at the Luncheon because of the great work the organization does throughout the New York Community and throughout the world. The live music was provided by Danny Mixon Jazz Trio and Featured Sue Childs.

Links, Greater New York Chapter,The Links Inc, president Linda Zango Haley thanked everybody as well the Links  members coming from all over the USA, she also presented a check for $35.000 to Valentine J. Burroughs M.D., Chief Medical Officer and Chairman for the Department of Medicine, for North General Hospital,for women in the area to have Heart and Cholesterol Screening.
The Fashion show was handled by  Noel Brogan Productions, The Designer was The Stone Cottage Collection ,most of the Links members were modeling different designs  and the crowd enjoyed it immensely.we at Liberty News Online Magazine like to thank Ms Linda Zango-Haley ,The President Greater NY Chapter,The Links Inc, for her kind invite.
