EBONY Presents 3rd Annual Hollywood in Harlem
At Cadillac Dealership in Harlem,128st & 2nd Avenue

EBONY Magazine presented the 3rd Annual Hollywood In Harlem Film Festival August 3-5 at the Schomburg Center in Harlem, New York. The festival  featured celebrity appearances, screenings of new and classic films, panel discussions, and a gala affair to culminate the festivities.

The three-day film festival celebrated Harlem Week and African-Americans’ contributions to the world of cinema. Invited guests included Spike Lee, Halle Berry, Loretta Devine, Debbie Allen, Ving Rhames, Steve Harvey and other African-American film industry greats.

“We are pleased to be able to present this celebration of African-American film once more,” said EBONY Associate Publisher Jeff Burns, Jr. “With the generous help of our corporate partners, this promises to be an unforgettable event.”

This year’s festival  kicked  off with a tribute to African-American Women in Cinema and the presentation of the Hattie McDaniel Award. There was  a premiere of the independent film, The Color of the Cross and Steve Harvey: Don't Trip... He Ain't Through With Me Yet. Hollywood in Harlem  also featured a screening of Uptown Saturday Night during Senior Citizen’s Day.

The Walt Disney Company Family Day, one of the most celebrated days of the festival,  included special appearances by Adrienne Bailon, Sabrina Bryan, and Kiely Williams of the newest Disney Channel Original Movie, The Cheetah Girls 2, which premieres on Disney Channel Friday, August 25 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT).  The film was screened after a panel discussion and an autograph session. Children  received special giveaways. Deborah Gregory, author of the novel The Cheetah Girls, will also be in attendance.

The Hennessy Privilege Award was presented to actress Loretta Devine followed by the screening of the film Dirty Laundry in which she stars along with Jenifer Lewis, Rockmond Dunbar and Terri J. Vaughn. Following the screening, there was  a panel discussion on the film and reception.

The Hollywood in Harlem celebration culminated on the final night with the EBONY Red & White Ball Uptown Saturday Night. This classy, formal affair  saluted the Harlem Legends of Cinema.The following were honored: Debbie Allen,Lifetime Achievement Award,Loretta Devine,Cinema Achievement Award,  Michael Imperiola, Cinema Achievement Award, and   John Turturro, also received the Cinema Achievement Award.

EBONY Presents Hollywood in Harlem was  sponsored by Cadillac, which is the title sponsor. Other sponsors included The Walt Disney Company, the United States Postal Service, GVC Networks, Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce and Moet Hennessy USA.
