St. Patrick's Day
Governor's Breakfast
Mar. 17, 2005
Waldorf Astoria Hotel, NYC
What
a great way to celebrate St. Patricks day then with a very luxurious
breakfast at one of New York City 's landmarks, the Waldorf Astoria
Hotel. Immediately before the event, there was a pre-program performance
by the Sirocco' O'Neill Sisters, of the Petri's School of Irish Dance.
The program then began. The Governor started off the breakfast, accompanied
by Mr. Jack Irwin, the Assistant to the Governor for Irish Affairs.
Governor Pataki was also joined by members of his family, including
his brother, Louis, and his mother, of 90 years, who insisted on
standing up on the stage and actively taking part in the celebration.
Mr. Pataki spoke about how his ancestry roots come
from Ireland, and the contribution that Ireland and the Irish people
have made to America . Mayor Bloomberg, who rushed all the way over
from a major conference in Isreal to be a part of this wonderful
event, emphatically stated that he “would not miss this event
for the world.”
The next part of the program was an introduction
by Mr. Jack Irwin, Assistant to the Governor for Irish Affairs. The
event was emceed by Jim Ryan, Newscaster and Anchor for “Good
Day, New York” on WNYW-TV, Fox News. The audience heard a wonderful
invocation by Father Brian Jordan, and the American and Irish National
Anthems were performed by Ciaran Sheehan and Rebecca Carbino.
Other entertainment included Celtic Woman, Manhattan
Records recording artists. There was also a wonderful silent auction,
which raised monies for The Boys Hope and Girls Hope organization.
Dignitaries on hand included Alfred E. Smith, IV, Chairman, of the
Ireland Chamber of Commerce in the U.S.; Inc. and Maurice A. Buckley,
President and CEO of the Ireland Chamber of Commerce in the U.S.,
Inc.; Mr. John McCabe, President of the New Jersey Chapter of the
ICCUSA; Lee Iacoca, Former Chairman of Chrysler Corporation; Mr.
William Fugazy, Founder of the Ellis Island Medals of Honor; Former
NYC Mayor Edward Koch; Manhattan D.A. Robert Morgenthau, and many
more from the business and political worlds.

Director for the New York Chapter of ICCUSA, for his kind invitation,
and also thank Mr. John McCabe, President of the New Jersey Chapter
